The carnation is ruffled, dense, and far more work than it looks. This crochet carnation pattern gives you three sizes in one, so you can build an arrangement with some variation in it.

Worked in a 4-ply on a 1.5mm hook, the ruffle comes from the petal edging rather than the shaping, which means the stitch count matters more than usual. Forty-two pages, with the fiddly parts photographed.

Carnations suit a full, generous arrangement rather than a single stem. They also take colour beautifully. The two-tone edging on a real carnation is straightforward to reproduce with a contrast round.

How do I download the pattern?

The PDF is available to download the moment payment clears, and a copy is sent to the email address you use at checkout. If you lose the file later, you can request it again with that same address.

How do I find the right yarn?

This one calls for 4 ply · Sport · 5 ply with a 1.5 mm hook. The brand matters far less than working firmly and evenly.

Some patterns also need easily found craft materials such as floral wire, floral tape and a glue gun.

What language is the pattern written in?

English only, in US standard terms. If you're comfortable with charts you can work most of the flower from those alone, with the photographs to help.
